From Obertilliach there are countless possibilities for various hikes of all difficulty levels, for everyone from experienced hikers to families with children and the elderly.
For families with children and the elderly, the sunny slope of Golzentipp can be recommended. Starting from the peak station of the cable car there are beautiful, wide walking paths, such as the children’s mile with fun and adventurous playing stations, before continuing to the Golzentipp peak cross. The children’s mile can be accessed easily with a pushchair.
The Gailtaler Höhenweg trail leads in the south of the Lienz Dolomites and the western wing of the Gailtal Alps through one of the most beautiful areas with the impressive natural and cultivated landscapes of the Gailtal and Lesachtal. The long-distance hiking route is an easy counterpart to the Karnischer Höhenweg (Friedensweg 403). Along the walk, which is of medium difficulty throughout, there are repeated ascents and descents into the valley and to individual villages with refreshments and accommodation. You can absolve the trail in various sections. One of the easy sections is the walk from the Golzentipp peak station to St. Oswald/Kartitsch.

Via ferrata can also be accessed from Obertilliach. Whether you are heading for the Lienz Dolomites or the Carnic Alps, there is something for everyone. Those who enjoy hiking can conquer many stations of the well-known Karnischer Höhenweg altitude trail from Obertilliach and either stay overnight at a hut and continue the walk the next day or else descend back into the valley.
Refreshment tip: after a hike, you can replenish your energy on the sunny terrace of “Conny Alm” and enjoy the wonderful panorama before returning back down into the valley.
